Time to Smile

I once met an old lady at the train’s front desk,

We started a conversation which I could not contest.

Her face defines the years of wisdom’s statuesque

That made me ask her about life’s real quest,

I listened intently as she opens her mouth to speak

She told me to remember some of life’s real technique

Later in life I won’t see her since she’s already weak

But the words that she’ll utter will make my life unique.

She said never chase happiness for it will just come to me

Be busy with my own thing; do good to all people I see

Never let negativities of others remove my glee

Because my mind should be set in the goal I foresee.

She looks at my eyes, so deep it reached my spine,

Then she slowly tells me, I must let my real light shine.

Then she insisted that I should learn how to decline

If my life’s own happiness is already in line.

My jaw dropped as I stared for a while,

Her words make sense and it is all worthwhile,

She holds my hand, “I know that you came from a trial”,

“now that it’s over, it is time for you to  smile.”
